Serenade (2017)

soprano and alto saxophones

In composing this piece, my desire was to write music that would be straightforward and direct, with a general lightness befitting a "Serenade.” Each movement is a little character piece, capturing a single mood or feeling. The notes A and B, the first initials of the two dedicatees, and the whole-step between them, serve as the generative material for much of the piece. This piece was written for and dedicated to my two dear friends, Abigail Cleveland and Brianna Mansbart.
